Doggie Daycare can be beneficial to your dog in many ways. It can be good for them both physically and mentally. At our facility your dog will get to play for an hour, which is providing that physical stimulation and then will go in their own luxury suite for the next hour where they can enjoy a peanut butter Kong, puzzle toy or some other kind of mental enrichment. This rotation schedule continues through the entire day. The structured schedule is vital to teaching your dog how to self-regulate and not get over-stimulated which can lead to cranky pups. Very similar to a child's school schedule, this will provide your dog the opportunity to take a quick nap or just rest up their muscles for the next round of play with their friends. Group play at our facility provides the dogs a safe environment to socialize and learn social cues from others which is a vital part of a dog's development. It is a great outlet for dogs who need lots of exercise and who are we kidding it is a blast for them to play all day with their friends!!
At The K9 Corner, we require all dogs to be current on their vaccinations. All dogs must be up to date on Rabies, Bordetella (Kennel Cough) and DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza and Parvovirus). We do not require the Canine Influenza (H3N8 and H3N2) vaccine but highly recommend getting it for your dog. In addition, we also require your dog to be up to date on flea/tick and heartworm medications. We recommend renewing your dog's vaccinations early, as it can sometimes take several weeks for the vaccinations to take full effect.
If you have any questions about our vaccination policy, please do not hesitate to call.
The typical age for dogs to start daycare is 16 weeks old; however, if they have all the required vaccines, we are happy to have them! We do not have any breed restrictions. We love and welcome all woofers! Once your dog is six-eight months old, we recommend spaying or neutering them. Male dogs over eight months old must be neutered. We do not mix unaltered males and females nor let females in heat or pregnant come for daycare. We are firm believers in communicating with our clients. If we start to see behavioral changes due to your dog being intact, we will discuss the options with you to best help your dog; sometimes, that may mean your dog will have to be dismissed from daycare for everyone's safety.
The first thing you will need to do is make your dog a profile. On any one of the pages on our website you will find the "book online" button. Once you have created a profile and told us all the wonderful things about your dog it is time to give us a call and set up a meet & greet.
A meet & greet is a chance for us to get to know your dog. We will schedule a time for you and your dog to come into our facility and give us a chance to bond with your fur baby. The next step is to bring your dog into an empty yard and let them get a good sniff. Once your dog has got their sniff on, we will begin the dog introduction part. We will bring another dog into the yard and allow your dog to get comfortable with his or her new friend. We understand not every dog gets used to another dog in a matter of seconds so if your dog is a little nervous, we will give your dog more time to adjust. If your dog's body language says "send in more friends" we will continue to bring in more and more fur friends into the yard. This process is very important because it gives us time to evaluate your dog's reaction to other dogs, maintain a safe environment for all parties and set your dog up for success. Once the meet & greet process is complete you are free to leave, and we require your dog to stay for a minimum of three hours. Since the meet & greet is free you are more than welcome to keep your dog with us until 6:45pm. If your dog needs to eat any meals while with us during the day, feel free to put it in a Ziploc bag and we would be happy to keep them on the schedule you have them on.
If you are missing your dog during their meet & greet day don't worry you can always pull up the complimentary live feed cameras and watch them with their friends or check out the fun report card pictures that we will be uploading throughout the day!
We are open Monday-Friday 6:30 am to 7:00 pm and Saturday/Sunda 7:00 am to 12:00 pm and then again from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Major Holidays we are closed to the public.
We ask that you drop off by 5 pm and pick up before 6:45 pm. If your dog receives any bathing or grooming services from our sister company The Barkershop at The K9 Corner LLC please make sure you follow the pickup times instructed by your grooming specialist.
Daycare is not for every dog and that is totally fine! Just like the first time a child goes to school with their parents it can be very overwhelming. While we are more than happy to help support your dog in adjusting, the dog prefers to just hang with humans. If this is something the staff thinks can get better with more time or training, we can always help you book a consultation with our trainer.
Yes, sometimes dogs phase out of daycare, as they get older, they may no longer need all the crazy fun that comes along with group play. The staff is here to help and will absolutely communicate with you if we think your dog is no longer having fun being with the other dogs. We can even suggest some alternatives.
Dogs are separated by weight, energy level and whether they are spayed/neutered.
Dogs are monitored by a certified staff member at all times to ensure the safety of all the beloved dogs in our care.
All our staff members have been trained for yard safety and pet first aid.
If it is the first time your pup has been with us, we will need to set up a Meet & Greet, please give us a call to set that up. Since we tend to fill up quickly for daycare and boarding, we highly recommend you make a reservation ahead of time especially for holidays.
For grooming we ask that you contact our sister company The Barkershop at The K9 Corner to set up a grooming appointment.
For boarding around the holidays, we require a 50% deposit. If notified 72 hours prior to your pups stay your deposit will be refunded. For grooming policies please see http://thebarkershop.org website.
Since your sweet pup had a fun filled day, they should be very tired. Expect them to drink some water and then be ready for bed. Please do not be concerned if your dog drinks a good bit when they first get home, they sometimes forget to take a break to drink even though water is always accessible. We like to think they are having so much fun it simply slips their minds. We do suggest you wait an hour after being at our facility to feed them so that they don't upset their tummies. It is kind of like when humans don't eat right after a workout. Lastly your dog will need a good night's sleep to be ready for another fun filled day!
An indoor daycare environment is NOT the same as the inside of your home. It’s an entirely different environment in your dog’s mind and amazingly, most dogs learn that very quickly. They consider indoor play spaces to be an indoor dog park.
At The K9 Corner it is our highest priority to make sure your dog remains healthy and safe. We use restaurant grade chemicals that are not harmful to dogs. The yards have several drains and each of our suites has its own drain, so we do not have to worry about cross contamination. Our dog bowls are cleaned with a commercial grade dishwasher and all surfaces of our facility are cleaned twice a day. We take pride in the look and smell of our facility!
We want your fur child to be as comfortable as possible during their stay. We will provide a nice, raised bed and bowls. Since your dog's suite is theirs and theirs alone the entire time they are here with us we recommend bringing anything that makes The K9 Corner home away from home for them. That can be anything from a soft bed, blanket, stuffed animal, toys, treats or even one of your shirts.
We recommend bringing your dog their own food so we can keep their diet consistent since we will be spoiling them with goodies and don't want to upset their tummy. We just ask that you do not bring any rawhides and if your dog is a shredder, please keep fluffy things at home.
Day of pick-up we will wash any washer machine safe items you have brought for your dog.
Through mental and physical exercise our boarders are pretty tired when they go to bed at night. They have a comfy raised bed, and we play special music to help them sleep. The music is called "Through a dog's ear."
The canine nervous system is extremely sensitive to sound – and the special arrangements of classical music provided in the Through a Dog’s Ear series have been scientifically proven to have a profound soothing impact on anxious dogs. We play this special music throughout our facility to help calm the dogs and provide a relaxing sleep environment.
